Executive Director Cindy Thompson traveled to Austin, Texas for the world renowned South by Southwest, or "Southby" according to those in the know. SXSW is a not only a conference on steroids, but also includes festivals in music, film and comedy. Participating in the Innovation and Design track, Cindy enjoyed presentations by Valerie Jarrett, the founders of Instagram, Chief Design Officer of Mercedes Benz, and many other experts in architecture, story-telling, and innovation and design. The conference and trip were generously funded by the Duke Reflective Leadership Grant.
